The Hamilton Mosque at 921 Heaphy Terrace, Claudelands, Hamilton will remain closed until 11:59pm on Friday 27 August 2021. The further closure is required due to the extension of COVID-19 alert level 4 nationwide.
"We are all disappointed that there will be no Jum'ah (Friday) again this week. Though not a substitute for the regular Khutbah (sermon), we are arranging for another talk to be broadcast on our YouTube channel," said Asad Mohsin, President of the Waikato Muslim Association Inc.
"We hope it will provide spiritual benefit in sha Allah (if Allah wills). May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala (Praised and Exalted) accept and bless the community. Ameen," said Asad Mohsin.
The Waikato Muslim Association has also simplified its contact list subscription form to make it easier for people to sign up to get news and information. "Our direct communication channels are currently broadcast emails and WhatsApp messages. We only ask for your email address and mobile number at this stage," said Asad Mohsin.
Waikato Muslim Association has set up a WhatsApp broadcast list using the mobile numbers in its contact list. This allows multimedia messages to be sent out while protecting recipients' privacy. Recipients must provide their WhatsApp number and have the number 07 855 0567 saved in their mobile phone to receive messages this way.
"If you are unable to go out to do your grocery shopping during Alert Level 4, please call us and our volunteers will help you," said Asad Mohsin. People should also contact Waikato Muslim Association if they are in need of support they are unable to access elsewhere.
"Finally, I encourage you to play your part to help New Zealand. Be kind and follow Alert Level 4 guidelines. Get tested if you have symptoms or have been to any location of interest. Get vaccinated as soon as you are able," said Asad Mohsin.
